QLD Teacher Accused Of Student Affair, Indecent Dealings
Police have charged a female teacher alleged to have had a relationship with a male student and indecent dealings with a 15-year-old female student at a north Queensland high school.
They say other teachers from the school contacted officers to report the 30-year-old.
"Our investigations have identified the alleged sexual relationship between the student and the teacher had been ongoing for about six months," Detective Senior Sergeant Dave Miles told the Townsville Bulletin.
He said the teacher and the female student had been exchanging "material" and the charges related to what they had been discussing.
"This particular teacher had a considerable influence over the children involved," Sgt Miles said.
The school, which cannot be named for legal reasons, sent a letter to parents to inform them of the allegations.
"First and foremost, I want to reassure you that we treat the safety and welfare of your children, our students, as our highest priority at all times," the letter says.
The teacher is due to appear in Ingham Magistrates Court on November 3 to face five counts of indecently treating a child under 16 and four counts of procuring a young person for carnal knowledge.
