Qld Duo Guilty Of Jail Drone Drug Delivery
A man and a woman tried to smuggle drugs and mobile phones into a south east Queensland jail by flying them over the fence with a drone.
Donald Griffin, 22, and Karlie Lorraine Cuzzu, 35, pleaded guilty in the Brisbane District Court on Tuesday to supplying a dangerous drug to a prisoner at the Arthur Gorrie Correctional Centre at Wacol in October 2017.
The court heard the drone was damaged during flight and failed to deliver the contraband to an inmate Griffin had met while serving time for another offence.
Judge Michael Burnett postponed sentencing until November 16 so Cuzzu's laywer can seek a report on the needs of her children.
He warned her to get her affairs in order as jail time was "inevitable".
She was released on bail until the sentencing while Griffin was remanded in custody.
