Rhino Poacher Trampled By Elephants And Eaten By Lions

A rhino poacher has been trampled by an elephant and "devoured" by a group of lions in South Africa.

Emergency services told the Letaba Herald, a leading South African newspaper, that the man had been illegally hunting in Kruger National Park with a group of men when a herd of elephants surprised them and trampled one of the men to death.

The group then contacted the family, who alerted authorities to assist them in retrieving his remains.

"Indications found at the scene suggested that a pride of lions had devoured the remains leaving only a human skull and a pair of pants" the Letaba Herald says.

Glenn Phillips, the Managing Executive of the National Park, said:

"Entering the park illegally and on foot is not wise, it holds many dangers and this incident is evidence of that."

It's very sad to see the daughters of the deceased mourning the loss of their father".
