Perth man responds to racist remarks with random act of tea

In a world where racist outbursts are more likely to be captured and uploaded, the ‘kill them with kindness’ approach can seem pretty uncommon – almost unusual.

Perth man Jarred Wall, of Aboriginal descent, had been out to lunch at a Fremantle café when he overheard a conversation.

“… we inadvertently heard two elderly ladies, seated next to us, chatting about aboriginals,” Mr Wall’s Instagram post read.

“The conversation was less than distasteful with words like assimilation thrown around willy nilly.”

Mr Wall said that while he could have “unleashed a tirade of abuse”, he admitted it wouldn't have helped.

“Instead, I did something nice and bought them a pot of tea and left a little note on the receipt.”

The note read: Enjoy the tea! Compliments of the 2 aboriginals sitting next to you on table 26 :)

Mr Wall signed off his post, which has been shared more than 2300 times on Facebook, optimistic that the ladies would be “a little wiser and think before they speak. Hopefully there won’t be a next time!”

Nailed it.
