Measles alert issued: Sydney CBD, Artarmon

A measles alert has been issued for the Sydney CBD as well as Artarmon after a women affected by the virus visited the areas between April 29 and May 6.

The young woman, who recently returned from travelling around south-east Asia, spent time at Capitol Square and World Square, and used public transport between Town Hall and Artarmon stations.

NSW Health has warned that anyone who visited the below areas should keep an eye out for symptoms until May 234.

“Symptoms to watch out for include fever, sore eyes and a cough followed three or four days later by a red, spotty rash that spreads from the head to the rest of the body,” NSW Health’s director of communicable diseases Dr Vicky Sheppeard said in a statement.

It is not known whether the affected woman was vaccinated against measles.

  • Train from Town Hall station to Artarmon station (departing about 1.30pm).
  • N90 bus from Artarmon back to Town Hall (departing about 4.15am).

Tuesday, April 30 

  • Train from Town Hall station to Artarmon station (departing about 1.30pm).
  • N90 bus from Artarmon back to Town Hall (departing about 2.15am).

Wednesday, May 1

  • Train from Town Hall station to Artarmon station (departing 11.30am).
  • N90 bus from Artarmon back to Town Hall (departing about 12.30am).

Saturday, May 4

  • Train from Town Hall station to Artarmon station (departing about 9am).
  • Train from Artarmon station to Town Hall station (departing about 7.15pm).

Sunday, May 5
