Man Missing In Queensland After Plunging Into A Waterfall
A man who tried to climb up a waterfall in far north Queensland is missing after plunging 30 metres into the water below.
SES crews and police are searching for the man, who fell at the remote Roaring Meg Fallls at Bloomfield, north of Cairns, on Sunday.
His companion, who is now safe, called triple-zero after hiking to a ranger's hut.
The waterfall has a steep, slide-like rock formation. Four years ago a 41-year-old Dutch woman slipped and died at the falls.
A young woman is also recovering from leg injuries after falling down a steep embankment at Barron Falls lookout, northwest of Cairns.
It took crews five hours to rescue her.
