Man Charged After Mackay Lockdown Gun Drama
A 29-year-old man has been charged with multiple offences with more expected after part of Mackay's CBD was put into lockdown.
Police were called to a Gregory St address about 5.20pm on Wednesday following reports of an armed man creating a disturbance near a licensed premises.
Police negotiators were called in and by 8pm the man had surrendered peacefully.
The emergency declaration was removed at 12.40am on Thursday.
The man has been refused bail and will appear in Mackay Magistrates Court on Thursday.
No one was hurt during the incident.
"It's obviously a great result, nobody has been hurt," Detective Inspector Brendan Smith said on Wednesday night.
