Man Accused Of Torture On Qld Dirt Track

A man armed with a bizarre arsenal of weapons is facing torture and domestic violence charges after car-jacking a woman and driving his terrified hostage to a dirt track off a Queensland highway.

It's alleged the man had a small gun, disguised as a pen, ammunition and a stun-gun when he jumped into the 37-year-old woman's car on Friday afternoon, attacked her and forced her into the front passenger seat.

Police say he then drove to a dirt track off the Daguilar Highway, near Wamuran, 60km north of Brisbane, where he continued to attack the woman.

A passing driver who saw what was happening stopped to help.

But the alleged attacker threatened the good Samaritan before speeding off with the woman.

Police were alerted and found the pair, who know each other, a short time later.

The man, 43, is facing charges including deprivation of liberty, torture, assault occasioning bodily harm, threatening violence, contravening a domestic violence order, and unlawfully possessing weapons.

He's been remanded in custody and is due to appear in the Caboolture Magistrates Court on Monday.

Police want to hear from the driver who tried to help the woman and any other witnesses. It's unclear who called police.
