How A Stolen Wallet May Have Saved Couple From Berlin Attack
An Australian couple had a chilling stroke of luck while at the Christmas market in Berlin where 12 people were killed.
Tim Jones and Kelly Richardson had checked out about five Christmas markets while visiting Berlin.
However, they decided to leave the Breitscheidplatz Christmas market early when Tim discovered his wallet had been stolen.
A short time later, a semi-trailer ploughed into the markets, killing 12 people and injuring 48.
“By the time we got home, we started receiving messages from family members back home and Kelly’s family in England asking us if we were OK,” Mr Jones told Sunrise.
The couple then realised the gravity of what they missed.
“You know, my wallet getting stolen is quite insignificant in terms of what actually happened,” Mr Jones said.
While Mr Jones is right, we’re happy to not be reporting a completely different story.
