Great News If You Catch Public Transport In Brisbane!

Fare relief is coming to southeast Queensland.

Commuters will get cheaper train, bus and ferry trips from next year in a major overhaul of public transport fares.

The number of travel zones will be slashed from 23 to eight and the cost of the average journey cut by $1.54.

Children under 15 will also get to travel free on weekends, while off-peak discounts will be extended.

The reforms were announced on Sunday following an independent review into TransLink's fares.

Public transport fares in southeast Queensland will be frozen for the remainder of this year, while fares in regional Queensland will be frozen for the next 18 months.
