Going Away For This Weekend? Here's What You Need To Know
If you are heading away for the weekend, you have been warned that you need to arrive at the airport early.
Border Force staff are planning on taking industrial action from midnight, going on strike for 24 hours.
Staff are dissatisfied with a two-year deal with the government over negotiations for a new enterprise bargaining agreement.
Staff who are employed in counter-terrorism and security duties cannot strike, but passport control is expected to walk off the job.
"If you are travelling overseas on Friday we encourage you to arrive at the airport early to allow for extra time for customs and immigration clearance processes.
"We have plans in place to minimise any impact on travellers and also the processing of cargo and mail’’ said Clive Murray of the Australian Border Force’s Strategic Border Command.
