Girl Critical After Attempted Carjacking Goes Wrong
The resident of a Gold Coast street where a teenage girl was run over during an alleged carjacking has described seeing puddles of blood on the road.
Angus Knox arrived at his family home on Mullewa Crescent in Helensvale shortly after the 15-year-old girl sustained critical injuries in the incident on Thursday night.
Police say she and a 17-year-old boy, believed to be her boyfriend, had attempted to steal a car from a woman who had given the pair a lift from a nearby shopping centre.

When the girl threatened the woman with a knife it's believed she drove off and hit the teenager.
"There was a pair of shoes in the middle of the road, just heaps of clothes, lots of police tape," Mr Knox said.
"I'm pretty sure there was some blood on the road, you could see big puddles of it. It wasn't cool."
The girl remains in a critical condition at Gold Coast University Hospital, while her alleged accomplice is still at large after fleeing the scene.
Mr Knox, whose older brother witnessed the incident, said he'd originally been mistaken by police as the wanted teenager.
"I'd just come home with my son and tried to see if my nan was alright," he said.
"I ran down the street and they thought I may have been the same dude, but luckily I wasn't."
The driver of the car sustained a cut to her hand but refused medical treatment.
