Dog Saves Owner From Vicious Knife Attack

A dog has saved its owner during a vicious knife attack west of Brisbane.

The 58-year-old was allegedly stabbed by an 18-year-old man at his home on Wuth Street, Toowoomba, about 9.30pm on Sunday.

Police said the man's dog launched itself at the attacker and chased him away.

The victim suffered various stab wounds, reportedly to his neck and face, but was able to drive himself to Toowoomba Hospital.

While detectives were interviewing him about the incident, his alleged attacker also arrived to seek treatment for bite wounds and was arrested.

Police couldn't detail the relationship between the two men but said the offender involved in the attack had not broken into the property.

The 18-year-old, from the Glasshouse Mountains, will appear in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Monday on charges of unlawful wounding, enter dwelling with intent and assault occasioning bodily harm.
