Manhunt After 16 Year Old Teen Assaulted In Brisbane Bushes

A teenage girl has been dragged into bushes and assaulted in Brisbane's northwest, police say.

The 16-year-old was walking along Kittabilla Street in Chermside West, near the intersection with Craigslea Street, when a man walked up beside her and put his hand over her mouth at around midday on Wednesday.

Police say the man then pulled her into nearby bushes but she kicked him and managed to break free.

The man, last seen running down Buran Street, is described as Caucasian, possibly aged in his late 20s to early 30s, approximately 185cm tall with a "proportionate" build and facial stubble.

He was wearing a black cap, black sunglasses with orange reflector lenses, a white T-shirt and black shorts.

"The girl fortunately was not physically injured however was naturally distraught by the incident," Queensland Police said in a statement.

Police are appealing for anyone with information about suspicious behaviour in the area, motorists who may have passed the incident and CCTV from local home owners.
