Backpack Led Bushwalkers To Discover Skeletal Remains
A backpack perched beneath a tree is what allegedly first caught a group of bushwalkers' attention before discovering skeletal remains yesterday.
The group were reportedly surveying the site near Mt Coot-tha for the proposed new zipline when the stumbled upon the personal artefacts.
Police investigators are hoping the items will help lead them to the identity of the deceased.
"It is an area that is known to be frequented by homeless people, and that is certainly one of the lines of inquiry that we’re following now," Regional duty officer Inspector Rob Graham told BrisbaneTimes.com.au.
"There’s a number of personal items associated with the human remains that may shed some light on who this poor person is."
The popular walking track will remain closed to the public on Thursday as the police investigation continues.
