10-Year-Old Boy Shot In Attempted Robbery Near Brisbane

Police are investigating an attempted armed robbery in Browns Plains that has left a 10-year-old boy and his father in hospital.

About 7.55pm on Tuesday, two men, one armed with a firearm, entered the Ammons Street home.

Police say an altercation occurred and the boy was shot in the shoulder. His 31-year-old father sustained an injury to his abdomen.

They were both taken to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

A police dog was also injured while tracking the offenders when a dog at the Ammons Street home bit its leg. The police dog has been taken to a vet for treatment of a torn leg muscle.

The dog handler sustained lacerations trying to break up the dogs.

A firearm was recovered by officers at the scene.

Anyone with dashcam footage of two men entering a vehicle in the westbound lanes of Browns Plains Road in the vicinity of Waller Road at around 8pm, should contact police.
