How to Get the Cheapest Flights for Your Next Holiday

Flight search website, CheapFlights, has released a new report detailing how to secure the cheapest flights.

Timing has been listed as a significant player in how much you pay. According to Daily Mail, booking flights more than six months in advance is more expensive, while three months was the sweet spot.

Booking less than a week in advance could end up costing you up to 13 per cent more for domestic flights, eight per cent more to New Zealand and Asia-Pacific, and up to 17 per cent more for international airfares.

While as you may think leaving for an overseas or interstate holiday after work on Friday sounds like a great idea, it will be the most expensive flight.

If you're thinking of going long-haul, your best bet is to leave midweek between Wednesday to Friday, but the cheapest will be Tuesday.

Friday and Saturday are the most expensive days to leave for international flights, for example, 5 per cent and 13 per cent more to Paris respectively.
