There’s One Big Issue In Chermside At The Moment

Chermside is the suburb where it’s all happening at the moment in Brisbane.

Not only is the Westfield Shopping Centre undergoing a dramatic transformation, but the land around it is being transformed as developers building apartment blocks make the most of the shopping, dining and transport hub.

But it has created another issue for locals.

On top of its growing population, commuters using the bus interchange and retail workers trying to avoid parking fees are clogging up the streets.

According to The Courier Mail, its made things hard for locals – although there are added benefits to the suburb’s makeover.

Median house prices increased by $45,000 last year, with the average home selling for $590,000.

Located just 12 kilometres from the city, the suburb has become a popular place for families with the newly renovated library sitting alongside the likes of a water park and large park.

However, it is the ‘independent youth’ who are proving the biggest fans making up 22.5 per cent of locals according to RealEstate.com.au.

And with the units, public transport and shopping – it’s easy to understand why!

Let’s just hope they don’t need on street parking…
