This Is Why We Were Stuck In Traffic Yesterday
There are traffic delays and then there are traffic delays.
For people travelling home on Brisbane’s northside yesterday, they can attest to just how bad those delays can be.
With emergency works being carried out on the Gateway Motorway, the north’s major arterial roads, along with many smaller roads, became backed up.
There were reports of it taking more than an hour and 15 minutes to travel just seven kilometres on the Gateway, while bus services were delayed by up to an hour.
So what caused the mayhem?
Well here’s a photo of the small stretch of road that sent Brisbane into a standstill.
The damaged lane on the Gateway was the result of an underground water main that exploded at lunchtime on Thursday.
It’s amazing how a few hundred metres can make such a big difference!
