Brisbane Firefighters Save Puppy Stuck In Recliner

Brisbane Firefighters to the rescue!

A chihuahua puppy may be one of their smallest rescue victims after getting stuck in a recliner couch.

"She let out a squeal and I looked under the chair and she was laying there lifeless and I thought that she was gone," owner Tyson Schuman said.

"Both myself and my partner were very distraught and especially him because he stepped off the chair — thank God he did not put the leg rest down because that would have squashed her."

Cannon Hill firefighters were called to a unit block in Brisbane to find the tiny pup suspended by its neck under the couch.

"When we arrived it was suspended by its neck and we thought it was deceased," firefighter Keith Hansen told ABC.

"It was very raw for the owner and his friend and they were very upset and distraught as the dog was basically one of their children."

"As we pried her out we thought we could see some signs of life with her tongue and eyes flickering," Hansen said.

"We pumped her chest with our fingers and got her oxygen and we thought after a couple of minutes, 'this dog is starting to breathe'.

"We decided to do a mercy dash in the fire truck and take her to the 24-hour emergency vet.

"She was in the back of the truck and as we just about got to the vet, we hit the gutter and all of a sudden the dog's head popped up and her eyes were open and signs looked very good at that stage."

While the vet believes Raven may lose a tiny bit of her sight, she reportedly seems well.

So happy to hear it!

What a little fighter!
