28yo Gives Birth 9 Hours After Learning She Was Pregnant
Carlene Wells, from New Zealand was "pretty shocked" when she gave birth to a healthy baby boy on Thursday.
Heading to the hospital with abdominal pains, the 28-year-old "thought it was kidney stones or something".
In fact, Wells was 40 weeks pregnant and had actually gone into labour, hence the abdominal pains.
Talking to Stuff.co.nz, Wells said "Most people have eight or nine months to prepare, we had about nine hours".
Doctors explained to the new mum that because her placenta had been resting at the front of her stomach, it meant she'd never feel any kicking or moving from the baby.
Wells had presumed the pain in her lower back was due to long hours on her feet at work and any weight she'd gained in the past few months was a result of the long winter.
Wells and her partner, Eamon Parkes have been together for nine years but hadn't planned on having a family.
Regardless, Parked has been "over the moon" since their son, Carlo arrived.
According to the new parents, he is "the best [Christmas] present I could ever ask for".
