First in Series of David Bowie Box Sets

If you're a David Bowie fan, September's going to be a banner month for you.  That's when we'll see the release of the box set David Bowie: Five Years 1969-1973.

The 12-CD/13-LP collection, which arrives September 25  will include remastered versions of Bowie's six original studio albums: David Bowie AKA Space Oddity, The Man Who Sold the World, Hunky Dory, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, Aladdin Sane, and PinUps.

Two live albums are also included in the set  Ziggy Stardust: The Motion Picture Soundtrack and Live Santa Monica '72.  A 2003 stereo remix of The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars by the album's original co-producer Ken Scott, previously only available on DVD with the LP/DVD format of the 40th anniversary edition of the album, is also exclusive to the box set.

The really interesting material comes in the form of a new two-disc compilation,  Re:Call 1, which features non-album singles, single versions and b-sides. It will include a  previously unreleased single edit of "All the Madmen" which was never issued in the U.S. The original version of "Holy Holy," which was only released on the original 1971 Mercury single and hasn't been available since, will also see the light of day.

Other treats include photo rarities and technical notes on each album provided by producers Tony Visconti and Ken Scott, and a brief foreword by Kinks front man Ray Davies.
