Crowded House Announce Third Opera House Show
Crowded House have sold out their two upcoming concerts on the steps of the Sydney Opera House, so they've announced a third.
In 1996 the band performed their Farewell to the World concert to over 100,000 people on the Opera House forecourt, an event which was delayed a day because of the rain.
The third "Encore" concert will take place on Thursday, November 24, which will be exactly twenty years to the day of the now iconic Farewell to the World concert.
The tickets for their first two shows went on sale on Monday at 10am and sold out quickly, reaching the 5000-person-per-night capacity in a matter of minutes.
The concerts fall in the same week the iconic New Zealand/Australian band will be inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame at the ARIA Awards in November.
Crowded House released their self-titled debut album 30 years ago and have sold over two million albums, five of which reached number one in the Australian charts.
More than 2500 people are expected to travel to Sydney for the concerts, according to the NSW Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events Stuart Ayres.
*Tickets for the November 24 gig will go on sale to the general public on Wednesday September 28 at midday.
