Matt Damon Fails To Get Daughters Into Top Private School

Matt Damon's daughters have reportedly been turned down for places at a private Brooklyn school.

The Jason Bourne star is relocating to New York, and ahead of the family's move, like most parents, is keen to settle his three daughters with wife Luciana - Isabella, 10, Gia, seven, and Stella, five - into a new school.

However, editors at the New York Post's gossip column Page Six report that the actor's top choice, the arts-oriented Saint Ann's School, has told Damon that its classes for next year are fully booked.

According to the outlet, Damon was hoping his daughters would join the progressive independent school, which counts Lena Dunham, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Ethan Hawke and Maggie Gyllenhaal among its alumni, next year.

“They had a conversation with the school, but St. Ann’s just won’t bend the rules,” a source told Page Six. However, unlike other schools which might be swayed by the actor's Hollywood star status, Saint Ann's is standing firm on their decision.

“They don’t care (who the parents of its students are). A lot of schools will bend the rules very happily; they’ll bring celebrities’ kids in midway through the year or do whatever they want. Saint Ann’s just isn’t doing it," the source added.

Damon and his family moved out to Los Angeles in 2013, a decision which he described at the time as "tough" in an interview with U.S. morning show Today.

The Brooklyn school describes itself on its website as "an independent, non-sectarian day school offering instruction to students in preschool through 12th grade, so that every child will flourish, we eschew grades, rankings and prizes in favour of ongoing dialogue and teacher reports.”

Tuition reportedly costs between $36,080 and $42,555 per year depending on the grade.

A representative for Damon did not respond to Page Six's request for comment
