Fans Are FURIOUS At The New Mamma Mia Trailer
One big detail in the plot of Mamma Mia 2 has fans seeing red.
A decade ago we fell in love with mother-daughter duo Donna (Meryl Streep) and Sophie (Amanda Seyfried).
But if the first official trailer is anything to go by, one of the pair may be (predominantly) missing from this movie sequel.
All fingers point to Donna being killed off in Mamma Mia 2, making Sophie fend for herself and reminisce on flashbacks from her mother's life after announcing her pregnancy.
In the trailer we see a lot of 'young Donna' played by Lily James, but only small snippets of Streep's character.
How can they do this to us!
Meryl Streep was EVERYTHING in the first movie!

She was busy with another movie I heard but she'll be featuring only a small part in the movie— moonlight (@shawnmrauhls) December 21, 2017
lowkey mad at the fact they killed off donna, but it’s fine. i’m fine. it’s not like she was the best character or anything...— char (@charlottevillas) December 21, 2017
We'll have to wait until July for an absolute confirmation, but in the meantime the production is feeling the wrath from loyal Streep fans.
They were also quick to point out that in the first movie Sophie's grandmother was not alive, yet in the sequel Cher magically turns up to play the part.
I mean, Cher is magical but having a character rise from the dead is probably beyond even her.
Bring on July 2018 to see if our dreams have been dashed or if Mamma Mia Here We Go Again were just toying with our hearts for dramatic effect.
