David Bowie's Carnegie Hall Tribute Showm, Now Memorial

An annual benefit tribute concert at New York's Carnegie Hall that was to feature artists performing the songs of David Bowie is now a memorial to him. In a sad coincidence, the show was just announced in the New York Times yesterday morning, the day of his death.

Cyndi Lauper, Ann Wilson of Heart, Perry Farrell of Jane's Addiction, Jakob Dylan, Robyn Hitchcock and The Roots are among the artists on the bill for the March 31st event, with more to be added. Longtime Bowie producer and collaborator Tony Visconti is putting together the house band.

Past honorees have included Bob Dylan, Prince, Paul Simon and, last year, Bill Withers. The proceeds go to a number of children's charities.
